Stephanie Meyer's THE HOST

AUTHORS & BOOKS

Read an excerpt from The Host by Stephanie Meyer. "The Healer's name was Fords Deep Waters. Because he was a soul, by nature he was all things good: compassionate, patient, honest, virtuous, and full of love." (Stephanie Meyer)

Contests! I'm giving away copies of books by Charlaine Harris, Lynsay Sands, MaryJanice Davidson, Kim Harrison, and myself this week. Just leave a comment on a post here before Friday eve. to enter.

I love Jill Monroe's video interview with Gena Showalter about Savor Me Slowly. Watch it! "Tell me, Gena, how much do you hate men?"

Kimberly interviews Karen MacInerney, author of the upcoming Howling at the Moon. "Howling at the Moon is the story of reluctant werewolf -- and auditor -- Sophie Garou, who's got a great job, a great loft, a great boyfriend... and a big fat hairy secret." (Darque Reviews)

Read an excerpt from The Vampire's Kiss by Raven Hart. "Why would an immortal creature, forever young and strong, with a vast fortune at his disposal and an endless supply of beautiful women to fulfill his every carnal need, wish to end his existence?" (Raven Hart)

Author Tempest Knight blogs about Mark Del Franco's urban fantasy series, Unshapely Things. "T
he fact that the main character is a male druid instead of a female witch was what really called my attention." (Midnight Moon Cafe)

MOVIES & DVDS

Profile of Robert Pattinson, who will play Edward Cullen in "Twilight."
"
He was an absolutely lovely boy, everyone adored him. We have lots of lovely boys here but he was something special. He was very pretty, beautiful and blond." (The Evening Standard)

Photos from "Lost Boys 2: The Tribe" are being released. "Now, the vampires in the sequels are reportedly surfers, which might explain the rather cheesy subtitle." (Slash Films)

TELEVISION

Review of the "Torchwood" episode, "Adam." "...there is a new member of the Torchwood team, his name is Adam and he has supposedly been there the whole time.
Immediately this made me think 'Buffy, The Vampire Slayer' season five and the introduction of Buffy’s little sister Dawn." (If Magazine)

Alyson Hannigan will join "Buffy" reunion at Paley Center event next month.
"So that leaves Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) as the lone core Scooby holdout. No word yet on whether he'll cross the pond for the occasion." (After Ellen)

I saw the excerpt on stephanie meyer's site a few days ago...it looks REALLY good! But then again her books always are! :)

Authors can be very difficult to interview, and Gena was particularly unhelpful. Did you see how she left before we even truly began?

Katie, I'll keep everyone updated on news from Stephanie. I'm interested to see how she handles a sci-fi theme.

Jill! I totally agree with you. Gena kept mispronouncing her name and avoiding your questions, like the ones about all those other books you mentioned. I admired your great patience.
