AUTHORS & BOOKSBlogs to Watch: Be sure to visit CheriePie's Books, a review blog from Cherie Pie, who drops by Vampire Wire. Her design is lovely and her thoughtful reviews are primarily of paranormal books. Right now she's got a review up for a Russian paranormal, Nightwatch, a Charlaine Harris mystery, and a terrific British historical by Sarah Waters.
I just discovered AmberKatze's Book Blog. Lots of paranormal fiction stuff and urban fantasy. If you'd like to win a copy of La Vida Vampire by Nancy Haddock, enter Amber's contest. I've bookmarked it.
Speaking of Nancy Haddock, Mary Castillo (author of Switchcraft) just emailed me about her novel, too. La Vida Vampire (and you know I love that title) is just out. Read an excerpt from this comic vamp romp. "The drugstore is one of the most haunted places in an entire downtown of haunted places, and one of the buildings I'd skipped on Tuesday's tour." (Nancy Haddock)
Review of The Brotherhood by Dawn Thompson. "It’s a gothic, paranormal romance. It reminds me of the original Dracula in many ways. " (Scooper)
Review of Lynsay Sands' Vampires Are Forever. "...another installment in the saga of the Argeneau family vampires, or, immortals, as they prefer." (MLO Knitting)
Interview with Moira Rogers, author of Moonshine. "The title actually has several meanings, with the joke about shapeshifters and the full moon being the least of them. Moonshine is the name of a powerful aphrodisiac created specifically for shapeshifters." (Kris Eton)
MOVIES & DVDS
Q&A with Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen in the upcoming "Twilight" film. "The best part of playing Carlisle is feeling like the head of this amazing family, with all different personalities. The worst, for Carlisle, is probably the responsibility of keeping the family together and hoping everyone is happy." (Menfreya)
Horror movie titles that are deliciously sucktastic. "If a film has vampires, zombies, hookers and nuclear bombs, it had better damn well be called Nuclear Vampire Hookers Vs. The Zombies. " (Den of Geek)
TELEVISION
Some photos of "Buffy" alums from their reunion at Paleyfest. James Marsters (Spike), for the love of all that is sacred, put away the curling iron and pick up the flat iron!GRATUITOUS VIDEO OF THE DAY
Okay, I decided to find out who Peter Facinelli is since he's one of the stars of the upcoming "Twilight" movie. He's got a Tom Cruise vibe, but I'm trying not to let that bother me.

Thank you so much for the mention!

Together again honey ;)
Oh and James Marsters needs to cut his hair!!! Do the Spike thing again baby!!! Please!!!!
Listen to him on the 'Dresden Files' audio books. His voice is lovely!
I didn't think he had a Tom Cruise vibe intill I saw the video. Kinda spooky.
AmberKatze, I think James should update from the Spike look, which was getting a bit fried after the years of bleach. But he looks like he has those horrible Justin Timberlake curls.
Princess Allie, I know! There's something about the actor's face when it's in motion that very Cruisifous, but he's able to deliver the funny lines well, and I gotta love him for that.
As I commented on CheriePie's blog, the Nightwatch, Daywatch, and Twilight books that she talks about have got to be novelizations of the movies by the same name. Nightwatch and Daywatch are the only two that are out in North American dvd format at this time. Both movies are in Russian with English subtitles. Nightwatch is very good. Depending on how much you want to read into it while you're watching it, the movie is a very decent action/fantasy/supernatural film or it's a thinly veiled allusion to the Cold War. Whichever way you read it, my whole family (me, husband, then-17-yr old son) really enjoyed it.
Daywatch isn't nearly as good--a disappointment, since I waited a year for it to come out here in the States on DVD. It's okay, but comparatively, a much weaker effort. Twilight (the last installment) is already out in Russia, so we'll probably get it in the next year or so. I'm curious to see where they will go with the 3rd movie.
That "Cruise Vibe" thing is kind of freaky - never really thought of it before(and I did watch that show a few times back then). I sure hope that doesn't come off on Carlisle - 'cause I just can't see it.
Kristin
Hi, everyone. Tina, "Twilight" is an adaption of the NYT bestselling novel by Stephanie Meyer. It may have the same title as the Russian flick (and there are other movies and books with this title), but it's not the same movie. There have been movies made in 2000, 1969, 1919, 1912, and 1994 with the same title.
Kristin, the Meg Ryan/Kristen Stewart vibe is also freaky. I loved Meg before she cut and pasted her face into a bad collage.
Amberkatze, you're welcome! Thanks for visiting VW.

The Twilight that you are referring to isn't the one that I was referring to. I was referring to the trilogy discussed on CheriePie's Books--you referenced the first one in your paragraph about her site. "Right now she's got a review up for a Russian paranormal, Nightwatch..."
The book, Nightwatch, that she reviews on her site is apparently a novelization of a Russian movie. I can tell because I've seen the movie by the same name and the story is the same as what she describes for the book. She also refered to a second book in the series, Daywatch, and another commenter mentioned picking up the third book, Twilight. These are the same titles as the other two movies in the Watch trilogy.
Sorry I wasn't very clear about which Twilight I was referring to, especially considering your entry also discusses this new Twilight movie that is currently being cast.
James Marsters rocked on Torchwood! I couldn't believe the gay scenes at the beginning but boy that guy is hot!!!
I hope Torchwood bring him back...and film in in May...in Cardiff....my hometown...when I am visiting...
Maybe I need to go hang around the hub instead of my family when I visit home...
