Contest for Demon's Hunger by Eve Silver & More

AUTHORS & BOOKS

Hachette Books has given me FIVE ADVANCED READING COPIES of Eve Silver's upcoming novel, Demon's Hunger to give away.

Want to win one? Simply leave a comment telling me what snack you'd give a hungry demon. I'd serve tortilla chips and salsa, because salsa is not only good for the demon's health, but the demon would enjoy the fieriness of the jalapenos. The contest runs through Saturday night, and I'll announce the winners on Monday. Winners will be chosen at random.

Here's a description from the book cover: "Forensic anthropologist Vivien Cairn fears she's losing her mind. Her libido has kicked into overdrive, and she's blacking out-leaving hours of her life unaccounted for and no memory of where she's been...or what she's done. But when a sexy stranger rescues her from a demon attack, Vivien realizes there's more than just her sanity at stake..."

Read an excerpt of Demon's Hunger. "From the shadows, Gavin Johnston watched the play of expressions cross the girl's face as she struggled to stay awake."

Shannon shows quite a bit of commitment by reviewing 8 paranormal books, including Jeaniene Frost's One Foot in the Grave. "The pacing is excellent, and there's enough time spent on the characters themselves to keep me satisfied. Exciting and thrilling, I read this in about six hours and I'm very keen on the next book." (Have My Cake and Eat Yours Too)

Sidhe Vicious shares some fun cover art and blurbs of upcoming novels. "And last but definitely not least, because this author has been rockin the socks off the paranormal romance readers collective you know whats, Nalini Singh has a new cover to whet our appetites for Angel’s Blood, due out March 2009." (Sidhe Vicious Reviews)

Enter Sharon Ashwood's contest for chocolates to celebrate the upcoming release of Ravenous. "Holly Carver is a small-time witch who busts ghosts for tuition money, but ends up wrangling a demon when a haunted house job goes bad." (Fresh Fiction)

Read an excerpt from Sharon Ashwood's Ravenous. "Being the evil Undead wasn’t fun any more. For one thing, it was increasingly hard to get a library card." (Sharon Ashwood)

Contest for a copy of Patrice Michelle's Scion's Revelation. "Caine Grennard was a werewolf, living among humans and lacking purpose--until the night he met a woman with an exotic, irresistible scent." (Fresh Fiction)

Read an excerpt from Scion's Revelation by Patrice Michelle. "As he entered, the Lupreda sitting in the living room and standng in the hall turned and stared. Every single member of the wolf pack was there now." (Patrice Michelle)

MOVIES & DVDS

Interview with Tomas Alfredson, the director of the acclaimed Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In." ""I really think you shouldn't do films of good books...The reason is that the depth of a good book is so much greater than you could possibly do on screen in 90 minutes. But this was sort of the exception." (Los Angeles Times)

Need more Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) while you're waiting for the release of "Twilight"? Here he is in a trailer for "How to Be." "Pattinson plays Art, a socially awkward failing musician going through a quarter-life crisis." (Blast Magazine)

.

GRATUITOUS VIDEO OF THE DAY

Here's a new Spike (James Marsters) video. Spike singing --- not very well, but who cares? He makes angsty work.

And we can't forget Angel and Buffy and Kate Perry's "Hot & Cold" with a disco beat!

queso dip and chips sounds real good about now.

So that's what you'd give a demon? Uhm, cheesy dip for breakfast! (I don't know where you are, but I haven't had my coffee yet.) Actually, that does sound pretty good.

Blakey Girl said...

i'd feed them armadillos...they're crunchy and bite sized..well for a demon anyways....

Jackie Ballway said...

The kid down the street who keeps throwing sticks in my backyard. It makes Dante, my evil genius of a dog, very upset.

Marta said...

Blakey Girl, my husband once ate an armadillo. It's a long story.

Jackie, you're mean, but funny!

Ummm...I'm not sure what I would feed a demon. Maybe something chocolaty, so it would be in a good mood. Chocolate always makes me happy, and I wouldn't want to be around an unhappy demon.

Tanya said...

I would give the demon...a peanut butter & jelly sandwich on toast bread! It's sweet & chewy & with the peanut he'll be licking his gums lol to eat it all up...

Liviania said...

I would feed the demon chocolate animal crackers, since those are the snack I keep in my dorm room for visitors. I'd also offer a nice cup of mint green tea.

Jane said...

I would feed them rats.

Here in Texas.........hot wings and a beer :)

scooper said...

I'd serve my enemy's arms. Roasted.

All excellent suggestions!

-Carrie, good thinking!
-Tanya, the PJ sandwich could also slow down a hungry demon.
-Liviana, the mint tea might relax an angry demon.
-'80s Lady I'll be dropping by later!
-Jane, if you've read my books, you know how I feel about rats.
-Scooper, your suggestion sounds very labor intensive. Consider serving your enemy's arms as a carpaccio.

This is hilarious. Hmm...I think I'd feed a demon coffee, double-double. Or maybe not. Caffeine can make one jittery.

Chocolate (to sweeten up its disposition?). Actually, I might eat the chocolate myself.

What about Thai food? Nice spicy Thai curry?

Since I just discovered it, I would give a demon a bowl full of Edy's Slow Churned Samoa Ice Cream. That is Samoa as in those delicious girl scout cookies you can only get once a year. Edy's made an ice cream out of them! I love ice cream.

My second choice would be Cookie Minister ice cream from Coldstone Creamry. Mint chocolate chip oreo fudge ice cream....what could be better than that?

Raonaid Luckwell said...

What would I feed a demon? Hrm, should be interesting to feed them coffee, endless chocolate, or maybe these hot sausages that I dearly love.

macbeaner said...

Atomic wings from Quaker Steak and Lube. If you've never been to one, you have to go.

Anyways. After the firey pits of hell, how bad can wings that you have to sign a release form be?

It'a a toss up between Bailey's filled chocolates or Mocha Almond Fudge ice-cream. Both are sublime... but then there was that ultra creamy chocolate swirl cheesecake!

All I can say is that all 3 work quite well as a "calgon take me away" diversion. Mmmmm chooocolaaate...lol.

I'd feed a demon some of my brownies. Give him a sugar high.

I have this neighbor who's dog is very irritating. So I think it would make a nice appetizer until I find out what my visitor really likes to eat.

I Heart Book Gossip said...

I'd serve Pumpkin Cake with Whiskey Whipped Cream. Cause thanksgiving is coming.

tetewa said...

How about jalepeno poppers and a marguerita!

Ohmygosh! I LOVE that cover for Demon's Hunger. Must have it! (Don't you love when covers are so gorgeous you want to buy it just for that?) :-)

Anyway, I'd feed the demon some saltwater taffy. Then when he decided he might want to munch on moi, he just...wouldn't...be able....to open...his...mouth!

Hee.

Michele, I was thrilled when I saw the jpg of that cover. It's really representative of the story, and I was so excited about it. Thanks for loving it :)

Marnie Colette a.k.a marniebelle said...

Like the cover... I would serve them mint chocolate chip ice cream. Ice cream because they will need to cool down a litte. Mint to help them with the demon breath. Chocolate- well that fixes everything.

Marta said...

Hi, Eve, thanks for visiting! Yep, your cover is great and I particularly appreciate that it coordinates well with my blog colors.

The faves seem to cold and sweet ice cream, or hot and spicy food.

What about turkey and red wine, to put a demon to sleep?

BarbP said...

Hi all! Being from Kansas City Barbque is always a good thing. Ohhh how about Dark Chocolate and some Port! Sounds good maybe I'll have some of that tonight with my own Demon * LOL * ( Make that husband ). Have a good one!

Angel food cake to conteract his demoness!

Anonymous said...

I would give him either curry, some nachos with salsa or any other hot spicy foods.

Thanks,

Terri W.

Bray said...

I would feed a demon Tequila Rose and chocolate...that's the first thing my husband asked about this morning while getting coffee.

J Kukawa said...

Perhaps it's because I'm craving it myself, but I'd feed a Demon Pho.

Demons probably like meat, so there's beef. The scent of anise and ginger should calm down the demon, and who doesn't like rice noodles?

CrystalGB said...

Spicy chili because they are used to things being hot. LOL

Marta said...

BarbP, is Arthur Bryant's still around in KC? Because, you're right, some of that barbecue could satisfy any demon.

BlackRoze, I'm sure your food is not that bad!

Dawn, great seasonal suggestions.

ArkieRN, my mom used to make Angel Food cake, but I always preferred Devil's Food.

Terri, mmm, curry!

Bray, what's Tequila Rose? It gotta be good because I love roses and I'm fond of tequila.

J, one thing I miss about working in the city is those big pho restaurants with all the fresh herbs and seasonings on the tables.

Crystal, spicy chili might satisfy the demon for a while, but the after effects could be deadly!

Vicky said...

Ice cream to cool them down a little bit.

Carmen R said...

pizza and beer or if it's a different kind of hungry well then i would feed it ME! lol :)

I would feed a demon Texas style....Chili topped with jalapeños!!!!!

Ruth Schaller said...

Hi Marta!

Well, what would I serve as a snack to a demon? Well, it owuld have to be my fave Ruffles thick cut chips, plain, and jalapeno chip dip (my fave!!!).

Yep, that's one tasty snack!

Michelle said...

How about some Buffalo Wing Dip & assorted dipping items...creamy, spicy & a bit of a kick to it!!

Kammie said...

I'd serve hot crab dip and crackers with a green onion garnish.

Lynn Irwin Stewart said...

I'd just give him a nice southern carb load -- fried chicken, mashed potatoes (and gravy), black-eyed peas and sweet tea, followed by a slice of pecan pie. If that doesn't put him in stupor, nothing will.

Marta said...

Thanks to everyone who participated. I've got the winners on today's post: MacBeaner, ArkieRN, Jackie M, PamK and Jane.

Congratulations!
