So, I'm in the crazy place, trying to finish up a rewrite, and I just got my editor's notes for another novel. Which is the only reason I'd ignore my responsibilities to you, Vampire Wire readers, who so desperately need something to read while at work.
Comic Book Resources announces that the complete Dracula comics has been released by Dynamite Entertainment. The gorgeous art is by Colton Worley. "This fully painted series features a massive 32 pages of story and art per issue, each page fully-painted in a rich, moody style by Worley, all under covers by modern master John Cassaday!" Ah, I'd like to see Worley illustrate spooky children's classics.
In the immortal words of the theme song to "The Mary Tyler Moore Show, " she's gonna make it after all! The New York Times has an interview with Charlaine Harris, whose Southern Vampire series is now an HBO hit show, "True Blood." "“I had this real neener-neener-neener moment.”
Read a review of Moonburn by Alisa Sheckley. "Werewolf and vampire stories have been done to death in the last 10 or 15 years, but Sheckley introduces some new life into her shape shifter world. Native American and Old World mythologies come together to make MOONBURN a darker and more satisfying fantasy than your typical tale of urban weres." (Fresh Fiction)Read a summary of and an excerpt from The Better to Hold You, the first novel in Alisa Sheckley's werewolf series. "Manhattan veterinarian Abra Barrow has more sense about animals than she does about men. So when her adored journalist husband returns from a research trip in Romania and starts pacing their apartment like a caged wolf, Abra agrees to move with him to a rural mansion upstate."
Looking for a historical with vampires? Amanda raves about Royal Blood by Rona Sharon. "Royal Blood is an amazing novel... The paranormal elements of the story shouldn’t fail to satisfy fantasy fans and the vampire mythology works well in its historical setting. The political and papal conspiracies surrounding the supernatural just add to the excitement." (Love Vampires)We all need free reads in this economy and Kimberly Swan has a contest for signed copies of Toni Andrews' Cry Mercy and Angel of Mercy. (Darque Reviews)
If you're missing your fix of vampire television shows, here are photos of "The Vampire Diaries," which will be shown on CW right before "Supernatural" next season. "The show is based on LJ Smith’s book series. Stefan is described as 'gloriously, amazingly, epically beautiful young man' who is actually a 200-year-old vampire..." Whoa, that's a gorgeous young man who's actually an old vampire? So, when that 42-year-old divorced guy hits on a young chick, it's creepy and sleazy. When a 78-year-old grampa hits on her, he's a total disgusting perv. But when a 200-year-old guy hits on her, now that's hawt! Don't ask me who makes up these rules, because if I knew I'd slap them.
I'm at a loss to understand why a 200-year-old vampire goes to high school, because, well, I've had way too many conversations with high school students and, also, why would anyone go to high school unless forced by the authorities? Unless he is a total perv. Then I understand.
Speaking of ancient cooters who hit on teenagers, the new poster for the second Twilight movie "New Moon" is out.Hawt or nawt? Some are saying ewh. I think the angles and the poses make these very attractive actors look as if they are dominated by their gigantic jaws. Perhaps that was the intention of the graphic designer -- implying that gigantic jaws were necessary for chomping down on victims. Sisterhood of the Trampoline-Nailed pants has a few of the much better posters created by Twilight fans.

Also, Robert Pattinson has officially signed on to star in the fourth Twilight movie, "Breaking Dawn." This makes me happy because I love reading all the crazy stuff Pattinson tells reporters. Yes, we are amused!
GRATUITOUS VIDEOS OF THE DAY
Season Three of "Robin Hood" is on somewhere (not where I am) and fans are making new videos. I really have watched this show once -- lots of running around and shooting arrows, which was pretty cool -- but the videos are even better, because of Richard Armitage as Guy of Ghisborne. Bring on the guyliner and black pleather, babe.
Okay, that one was for me, so here's something for Alex O'Loughlin fans. I never noticed how much he resembles John Stewart before, but check out the short hair shots.
Also, O'Loughlin has just been cast in a new medical series, "Three Rivers."

Moon Burn definitely looks interesting...The poster for New Moon... I feel like a perv for even glancing at it. (I'm pushing 40.)
Mitzi, Pattinson is in his twenties (and I imagine that that's the poster you mean), so, congratulations, you're not a perv!
XD R.Pattz definitely keeps buzz going about the movies huh? I'd suspect him of being clever or put up to it for PR just because sometimes its just 'omg they let him say that AND HE'S STILL ON THE FILM?'
somehow I managed to not hear about Vampire Diaries being turned into a show for the CW. I'm not sure which annoys me more--the fact that they made Vampire Diaries (and not Night World, which I think has a better world to explore as setting) into a show or that its on the CW, which seems like the biggest drama channel ever lately.
Lexie, the studio is definitely putting him out to do PR and the media is really seeking him out, too.
However, I think his responses to the media are all his own. It's a very silly, British sense of humor, and he cracks me up. He's not taking himself too seriously. I'm sure the TWILIGHT PR machine would prefer that he answer more seriously.
I like the poster. And I'm looking forward to the Vampire Diaries, I just finished reading the first two books. Hey Mitzi, I'm 40. I have no problem having a film/book crush on Jacob.
Hi, Shell! I like the fan posters better, and there are lots to choose from. Now, if you like the Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob, that is a little pervy! He's just a kid, but he's been body building for the next movie and will create moral problems for lots of fans.
Caught a bit of Entertainment Tonight yesterday arvo. Simon Baker's kept his Oz accent, bless him, but Alex O'Loughlin accent is much more American-sounding. And this was just when they were fronting the media as themselves, not characters.
On the other hand, I have an Oz accent, and it's not all that great ;-)
