Hurrah! I just got my cover art for Haunted Honeymoon (Casa Dracula Book 4)
I also love the artwork. Although the model doesn't look the way I've pictured Milagro, my heroine, she definitely has Milagro's playful sensuality. Yes, this is a girl who will find fabulous men, trouble, and parties. This is easily my favorite cover to date. (Although I'm still very fond of the fun and sexy Russian covers.)
The cool blue/black scheme also compliments the fab blue/black cover that Amanda at LoveVampires designed for The Shadow Girl, which she called "Bloody brilliant!"
What's next for me? It's all up in the air. I'm hoping to get an offer on The Shadow Girl of Birch Grove from a very good publisher. I'm also working on another young adult Gothic, which is grittier than my other stories. Both The Shadow Girl and my new Gothic take me back to writing in a style that I've missed with my comedy. I love writing humor and it's my default setting, but I also love writing in a more somber voice. I don't want to give either up.
If The Shadow Girl sells, I'll probably have to remove it as a free read on Scribd, where it has been the #1 YA novel for weeks now. You still have time to read it for free now. Rachael at Enchanted By Books has written a review and says:
The writing is absolutely addictive and I could not put this book down for a second. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. The suspense, mystery, romance and paranormal all together make a very exciting book that is sure to impress readers of various genres. Thanks, Rachael! The publisher wants to know if I have any blurbs for this book so your comments and reviews really help me get this sold. If you've read the book and want to share a comment, just send me an email!
The Annual Vampire Con starts today and runs through the weekend in Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Times has an interview with the organizers, Wendi Mirabella and Lotti Pharriss Knowles:
“We like vampires who are sexy and threatening – and who adhere to that role of a predator,” said Knowles, co-producer of V-Con. “There are those threads throughout the mythology, but every generation puts their own tweak or spin on it.”You can learn more about the event at Vampire Con's website. You know, I used to be able to add a link to my photos and then Google/Blogger changed the formating so I can't. Well, I can, but it's a lot more work and annoying. I just tried and will see if my effort works.
NEW BOOK LISTS: Patricia Altner has a great list of new book releases and summaries over at Patricia's Vampire Notes. The classic red/black/white covers are still popular. Taschima at Bloody Bookaholic has covers and descriptions of upcoming Young Adult reads.
GRATUITOUS VIDEOS OF THE DAY
Congratulations to the US Team, who won yesterday's match in the World Cup and is now advancing in the rounds! I don't know much about soccer, aka football, but I highly recommend you watch at least a little of the games every day to see these phenomenal athletes.
Wait through the first 45 seconds of this video and it gets way better.

Love the cover and wishing you all the best on your soon to be publishing deal :)
I love the cover, Marta! So different from the others. If sex indeed sells, this one should be flying off the shelves. ;-)
Hi, Katiebabs & Catherine, I was so pleasantly surprised. I'd been joking that I must have run over the Cover Fairy's cat because my covers never reflected the content at all. So romance fans were disappointed that my books are romance (though they are romantic) and no one knew what the heck to make of Midnight Brunch, which is really funny, but you can't tell that from the cover. I liked the cover to the Bride, though.
Thanks for linking to my review Marta! It's such a great book and I can't wait for a publisher to pick it up!
The cover for Haunted Honeymoon is GORGEOUSSSSSSSSSS! LOVEEEEES IT!
That cover is a keeper.
Oooo-o-o, such pretty blu-u-ue.
