It's a glorious day outside -- my roses are beginning to bloom, honey and bumble bees are buzzing over the Pride of Madeira and salvias, and robins, hummingbirds, and bluejays flit through the garden. My books are being shopped around the London Book Fair, which starts today, and I hope my agent will sell some international rights.
Amanda at LoveVampires has posted her review of Dark Companion, my upcoming YA gothic, and gives it a five-star rating! Full disclosure: Amanda read the early manuscript for this novel and believed in it so much that she surprised me with cover art for my free read. The cover helped me get readers and the readers helped me get my book deal with Tor Teen.
Dark secrets, hidden mysteries, disquieting realities, passion and romance… without a doubt this is my favourite YA book of the year. Dark Companion is recommended reading for teen gothic/vampire fiction fans as well as for Jane Eyre fans of any age. Bloody brilliant!Amanda's opinion means so much to me. I started following her LoveVampires years ago because I was so impressed by her thoughtful, perceptive reviews. If you haven't already done so, sign up for her newsletter to learn about new books, read interviews, and enter contests, which are usually international giveaways.
Abigail at All Things Urban Fantasy gives a wonderful early review to Summoning the Night, book two in Jenn Bennett's Arcadia Bell series.
The worldbuilding full of magic and Earthbound demons is refreshing and exciting, the pace relentless, the romance subdued and sizzling in turn, and the characters engaging and oh so likeable.I really enjoyed Kindling the Moon, Jenn's first book in the magical series, and I can't read this one! It was selected as a top pick by the Romantic Times:
Bennett quickly establishes that her terrific debut was no fluke, delivering another riveting tale featuring gutsy renegade magician Cady Bell. A series for your keeper shelf! To learn more about Jenn and her books, visit her website. Here's the funny trailer for the book and I'm going to ask my publicist at Pocket for a copy for a giveaway.
