Fantasy Spin on a Classic & Purpley Covers

Kimberly Souza sent me the photo above a display at Barnes & Noble that features Dark Companion. Thanks, Kimberly!

My book is placed beside another Jane Eyre inspired novel, A Breath of Eyre, by Eve Marie Mont, which is a time-travel/fantasy spin on Charlotte Bronte's classic gothic.

A Breath of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont
Released March 27, 2012.

Summary:
Emma Townsend has always believed in stories... Perhaps it’s because she feels like an outsider at her exclusive prep school, or because her stepmother doesn’t come close to filling the void left by her mother’s death. And her only romantic prospect—apart from a crush on her English teacher—is Gray Newman, a long-time friend who just adds to Emma’s confusion. But escape soon arrives in an old leather-bound copy of Jane Eyre

Reading of Jane’s isolation sparks a deep sense of kinship. Then fate takes things a leap further when a lightning storm catapults Emma right into Jane’s body and her nineteenth-century world. As governess at Thornfield, Emma has a sense of belonging she’s never known—and an attraction to the brooding Mr. Rochester. Now, moving between her two realities and uncovering secrets in both, Emma must decide whether her destiny lies in the pages of Jane’s story, or in the unwritten chapters of her own…

I'll look around for other urban fantasy/paranormal takes on classic novels, but in the meanwhile, enjoy purpley pinky covers of upcoming novels.

GRATUITOUS VIDEOS OF THE DAY

I live in a narrow fogbelt, set between the San Francisco Bay and a range of hills that have been thrust up by an earthquake fault line. Summer is just over the hills, but here it's cold and overcast, so my theme today is hot and cold, warm and chilly, burning and icy. Buy my books and enjoy your weekend reading!

And now the Friday Richard Armitage video.

Wow, it's not felt like summer there yet? All the more reason you should visit KY. For nearly 2 months, we've had 90-100+ degree temps. Now THAT'S summer, huh? :-)
Love the purply covers.

Hi, Lori! I could just go over the hills to get into 90 degrees with low humidity, but here it's chilly. I'm about to make a cup of hot tea. I am going to Kentucky on the Tor Girls Night(mare) Out Tour! Yay! I don't have the schedule yet, but I'll post it as soon as I know. I think we're going to Lexington.

Oh, that sounds nice. Some days, our humidity is really high, other days it's just a nice, warm day.
You're coming to KY?!? That just made my day! I really hope the Tor Girls Night(mare) tour will be coming to Lexington :D That's not far from where I live and Joseph-Beth Booksellers is a phenomenal indie bookstore. I'd definitely come over to Lexington to meet you gals and have my books proudly on hand (I'm picking up DARK COMPANION next week while I' in Lex., and Kendare's ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD has been one of my fave reads this year). Thanks for the great news! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll be coming to Lexington :-)
