| Dark Companion iPhone Skin |
I've been blogging regularly for over six years and that weird smell? That's my brain fried. I've enjoyed blogging, but it is time consuming and I could be spending that time writing stories. After much cogitation, I've decided to retain this blog for contests, my occasional rants, cover love, Q&A's with other writers, and flights of fancy. However, I'll post less frequently so that blogging stays fun and not chore-ish.
I'll continue to post Gratuitous Videos, but I won't get obsessed with themes.
I'm also happy to have guest bloggers, and tomorrow I'll host Marie Traenor, who's got a new paranormal romance out. There will also be a contest, woohoo!
Speaking of contests, I have some fab swag from our Tor Teen book tour. I'm giving away 5 iPhone skins for Dark Companion, 1 for Last Rites by Lisa DesRoches, and 1 for Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake. (These skins look better than my scans and they fit models 4 and 4S.) You'll also get a signed Dark Companion bookmark with each prize. During our entire tour, Kendare and I were both fighting over Lisa's way cool pink metallic Sharpie to sign our promo stuff, so I bought metallic Sharpies for all of us.
CONTEST RULES: This is an easy one. Just leave a comment and say what you hate or love about cell phones. For example, it makes me crazy when I see parents yammering on phones while ignoring their kids. I love that I can call my best friend when we lose each other in big stores. The deadline is Sunday, September 16, midnight, and you must leave a valid email address. Restricted to the US and Canada.
GRATUITOUS VIDEOS OF THE DAY
Okay, I said I wasn't going to fixate on themes, but sometimes a theme just happens, like today's save/salvation theme. Enjoy!

Those skins look awesome! I hope I can make them fit to my samsung phone. Which brings me to one of my pet peeves: everyting cool you can have for phones is always only for iPhones. I don't like iPhones. Their displays crack easily and their app organization makes no sense to me. Another thing I hate about phones is that you're supposed to be available anywhere at anytime. I like ignoring my phone for hours at a time.
What I do like about phones is that you always have soemthing to do (e.g. check twitter, read on the kindle app...) and a way to call for help in an emergency or use google maps.
Congrats for blogging that long! I love reading your blog but I understand that after all that time you want a break :) I hope you enjoy it!
Hi, Carmen! I agree -- people think you should always answer your phone. Why? Are they calling to tell you your house is on fire? If it's not, the call can wait. Lately I've been getting robo-calls on my cell. Yes, they've figured out robot calling, but there's still no frickin progress on robot maids. If I had one, I'd have more time to blog.
I'm happy that the blog is disappearing, but I do understand not being able to post as much. I hate that people just feel the need to be on the phone everywhere like the bathroom or movie theater. I love that I can take a pic and share it immediately. Have you been watching "Copper" on BBC America? It has Kyle Schmid.

Hi, Jane, don't worry -- I'll keep posting videos for you! Yes, I hate that people inflict their stoopid phone conversations on everyone around them. I wouldn't mind if they ever said anything interesting. I'm recording Copper on my DVR! I want to watch several episodes in a row, but I may wait for it to go to Netflix because BBC America cuts about 15 minutes from most of their shows.
Ack, I meant to say I'm happy that the blog is not disappearing. I didn't know they cut the shows.
I love cell phone because you can take them everywhere. Tore923@aol.com
-Jane, I figured that out!
-Tore, that is an advantage of cell phones. You don't have to stay glued to a landline for important calls.
I hate talking on the phone but I take my phone with me everywhere. I love that I can use it for email or if need to call someone in case I break down on the side of the road or something. I drive 45 min to my job every morning and then every evening. I have a Blackberry phone but I am getting ready to but a new Iphone 4s so this would be great to put on my new phone. Thanks so much! I hate that my husband thinks he needs to be on his phone all the time. We get in the car together and the darn thing starts reading. People even call him after we are in bed on a work night.
I really wanted to come see you and the other authors when you were in St. Louis but I wasnt able to make the drive. I live on the other side of Missouri.
